fender amp date
I just got a fender super champ xd. Questions about it?

I just got a fender super champ xd yesterday. Is it normal for this amp to make a buzz sound that all amps make when they are loud. i don’t have it loud. only at about level two.

is it normal for amps to get hot in the back when being played.
About how long does this amp last?
How often do you think I will have to change the tubes?

where can I find the manufacture date on this product?

sorry for all the questions. i don’t really know about amps. this is the second amp i get, the first real amp. my first one was a small crate amp.
was this amp a good choice. i have been playing for 6 years. i love blues and just about everything else.

I am an intermediate player, i guess.

Hello there,

One comment about care and use of tube amps. You need to let the tubes warm up before you play. I have not played a Super Champ XD, but if it has a standby switch, you need to use that when you are not playing.

About the buzz. There are several possibilities for the buzz. If is is a 60 cycle hum, the amp may not be grounded. Check the amp by plugging it into a receptacle on another line. That is plug it in in another room. Do you still get the buzz?

If so, try connecting your guitar to a different amp. Do you still get the buzz? If so, the problem is in the guitar. If it is the guitar, that may be an easy fix. We can discuss that issue later.

Also, try connecting a different guitar into your amp. Do you still get the buzz? If so, try using a different patch chord to see if you still get the buzz. (you need a good grounded patch chord) If you still get the buzz, the problem lies with the amp.

If the problem is with the amp, (unless you thoroughly understand electronics) I suggest letting a service tech fix the problem. I have screwed up too many good amps trying to fix them. (If you had a thorough understanding of electronics, you probably would not be asking this question.)

Heat. Yes, tube amps generate heat. That is part of what gives them that creamy sound.

Manufacture date. If you got a manual with the amp, you can find that information there. If you did not get one, you can download from from the Fender website.
