What electric guitar should I get?

I’m looking for a guitar that is versatile, that can produce heavy sounds and light sounds, and that can create a variety of tones. I’m looking at either an American Deluxe Fender Stratocaster or a Gibson Les Paul Standard. A lot of artists I like play one or the other or both. I like to play alternative, grunge, blues, jazz, metal. Money is not an issue as long as it’s below $2,000

i’d go for the strat if you get a humbucker in the bridge. Strats are not typically metal guitars stock. i suggest a dimarzio evo, as it can do jazz and metal very well

also, teles are probably too twangy for grunge and metal unless you put mad effects on one like john 5. Don’t know how they’ll work for jazz though
