Will this pickguard fit on my American Standard Stratocaster?
http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-Replacement-Pickguard-62-Strat?sku=361398
it says it is a replacement for the ’62 strat. will it fit my regular strat?
Hello! I believe the only difference between the ’62 Stratocaster pickguard and the standard 11-hole version is the truss rod adjustment notch. The notch is required due to access to the truss rod on that model being at the base of the neck, as opposed to between the nut and headstock. Yes, the ’62 pickguard from Musician’s Friend should fit your 11-hole Stratocaster; however, it is always possible that one (or more) of the body mounting holes may be slightly out-of-line and require plugging and re-drilling. Also worthy of mention is that there are lesser expensive sources for this particular pickguard, such as Dancing Dragons Guitars ( http://www.dancingdragonguitars.com/p-1163-allparts-dd0554024-strat-62-mint-green-sss-pickguard.aspx ). All-Parts is a factory-authorized manufacturer for many of the factory Fender pickguards, and generally provides a reputable quality product. Not knowing the origin of your instrument, I would instead recommend the official Fender pickguard #0992144000 ( http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0992144000 ), that is specifically designed for your guitar. You can purchase the pickguard through on-line sources such as Fruity Loops ( http://www.fruity-loops.com/item–MC.099-2144-000 ). Sorry if this turned out to be a complicated answer to your simple question! Best regards, Dana
P.S. URLs in my answer now work correctly.
