Does it matter what kind of Fender Stratocaster I buy?

Ok, I’m a huge Jimi Hendrix fan… huge!!! I’m in the market of buying a Fender Stratocaster and I don’t want to buy the exact color Jimi used, so I’m wanting a 50′s style Sea Foam Green or Surf Green (I believe it’s the same color but whatever). Jimi used a ’67-70 style Strat. Is there much difference between the sound of a 50′s style and a late 60′s style? I really can’t even tell that much of a difference between the look of the two. Will I need to be changing pickups or whatnot?

The fender sound in the 50`s, 60`s is the same and even in the 70`s. The only difference is in the weight but the tone is the old fender style tone like Hendrix, clapton etc….

Hendrix didn`t modify his pickups. The actual original Strat pickup in those years, shouldn`t be changed if you want to preserve the true Fender sound.
Also, the guitar gets its TONE with age. The more you play it, the more it will improve in sound over the years.

If you do like me on my old 1962 Stratocaster, i put Seymour duncan and never regretted it one bit.

I put Seymour Li’l Screamin’ Demon SLSD-1 in back and Livewire Classic II at the neck. I wanted an active pickup so i could combine the sounds and get more variation. ileft the middle pickup stock LOL..

This old `62 screams and when i play sweeps on it , I used the neck pickup for the bite it offers and the quick response.
