What kind of electric guitar and amp should I get?

I’ve got a budget of about 1000 dollars and I’m trying to get both a guitar and amp. I’ve narrowed it down to a Fender 60s reverse headstock strat or an Ibanez of some sort. Probably a RG2EX1. I was at guitar center’s website and everyone was saying that the strat sucked because it was made in mexico, but I dont have the money for an american strat. Should I take the strat or the Ibanez? Also for my amp descision I’ve narrowed down to a crate or a line 6. The line 6 has the presets which is pretty nifty, but I don’t know which is better…

depends on what you play. i personally favor ibanez playing metal and all also have a line 6 amp and ibanez… not shabby at all.
