Choosing a new guitar. (Strat vs. Tele)?

Hello, Yahoo.
I am considering purchasing my second guitar.
I am, by no means, an experienced player (I have been strumming for a month or two), and I can definitely “play” (I never said very well).
Currently, I have a cheap “Beginner’s” Washburn guitar. Next up for me is a full-fledged “guitar” to play on rather than learn on.

I have narrowed it down to two Fender classics, a Stratocaster and Telecaster.

I wish to play 50s-60s rock, country and blues (Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Who, Buck Owens).
So far, I have decided on a Telecaster, as they are not quite as overrated as Stratocasters, I prefer the look, and they have a fantastic sound.
However I have been considering a Stratocaster, as they have a wider range of sound and were used by mean guitarists.

With that said, I would love to get your thoughts on this (NOTE: I would likely eventually get both, however that would be a few years down the road. I currently want one or the other).

Thank you!

Telecaster, You can play classic rock with its Fender sound or with a flick of the selector switch you can have that twangy, country sound. So defiantly go with the Tele
