Line 6 Spider has the best amp modeling on the market.It even has a large selection of cabinet models that actually sound like cabinet setups.( i.e., Marshall JCM2000 amp with 1 or 2 412 celstion cabinets.
For the guitar, you can’t go wrong with a Fender Stratocaster, but you should also check into Ibanez and Kramer. Right now I’m partial to Kramer for the Quad-rail pickups. (Striker and Baretta Series)
