Permanent Marker in 1954 Fender Stratocaster Body?

PLEASE HELP ME! I have a 1954 Fender Start from a friend and the idiot tried to paint flames on the body. How do I get the marker off without damaging the work of pain?

Alaina, first try using some naphtha (lighter fluid) rubbing the affected area with a soft cloth. Naphtha not to damage the finish (just do not let it puddle and dry), and should easily remove the offending marker. If that fails (Or full paper), use a light rubbing compound or a polish scratches as Madre California Gold Scratch Remover (see http://www.autobarn.net/motcalgolscr.html to one source), do not rub too aggressively (just enough to remove the remains of the mark), and that should do the trick!
