Buying a new acoustic guitar?

Hey I’m an intermediate level player who’s looking to get a new 6-string. I’d like to get an acoustic/electric to play some open mic nights and just to have the versatility of being able to plug in while still having an acoustic. Any suggestions on a make/model that has a nice tone and is easy on the fingers? Also any guitars to stay away from at all costs? I’m new to buying guitars, the one I play currently is a 12 string Fender Villager from the 1970s (mostly strung as 6, but decided to string it up as a full 12 recently). Any help is appreciated.

Martin and Taylor make good acoustic electrics for the price. I especially like Taylor’s -14ce series like the 214ce, 314ce, and so on up to the 914ce. They’re all great guitars for the price. Martin has the OMC-28E, JC-16ME, and the 00C-16DBGTE among others.

If you can spend more, get a Santa Cruz, Collings, Goodall, McPherson, Huss & Dalton, or Froggy Bottom and have a pickup installed. They’re all much better guitars.

Good luck.
