Gibson Les Paul vs Epiphone Les Paul?

What is the difference between the two and which one is better? I speak of the black beauty models

Clearly, the parent company (Gibson) is always better. Epiphone give for less. unless you are insanely good or need to recommend an Epiphone guitar show a high level of Les Paul, and still sounds great
