What are so bad about Fender Squier’s?

Ok heres the deal. I have a Gibson i bought off ebay and i just realised that its a fake chinese thing. I now want to buy a fender squier(i dont have the money) and everyones saying they are pieces of shit. Would they be better than a fake gibson and what exactly are so bad about them?????

I don’t know about the bad press for them. I had the choice between a Fender Strat and a Gibson Les Paul (both proper American made originals), I got the Fender because it felt better in my hands to play (birthday present) I find Gibson’s quite heavy (my opinion – still amazing guitars though), I never regretted getting a Fender Strat.

Fender Squires are basic models and compared to the real thing you can see that, but as a starter you should buy the best guitar you can afford. My first guitar was absolute rubbish but as you play it and as you improve you get a better guitar. Don’t listen to people very one is a snob about what model to get, so many people spend more time dissing guitars than playing. You give a crappy guitar to a great player and you soon realize you player makes the guitar not the other way around. At least with a Fender Squire you can always sell it to someone else in the future (get a good colour).

Personally I would only buy a guitar if i could try it out. Go to a dealer pay a little more but at least you will get to try it. Or find someone who is selling in a local paper and go and visit them (i got guitars in the past this way). I would never buy online without trying, each guitar is slightly different esp the higher end models as they are man made.

The pickups etc are cheaper quality on a Squire hence the cheaper price, but you can upgrade the parts.

Strings – you put them in yourself mate when they break and need to be replaced
