fender guitar tuner help?

Okay, so I’m a beginner guitar player. I just got a fender cd-60ce with a built in tuner. I am clueless as to how you use this? There are arrows that blink red if I pluck a string, so I’m guessing this means it’s not tuned correctly, but what do I do? Also, it’s supposed to know what string I’m playing, but when I pluck the A or bottom E, it shows up as D? I guess that means it’s horribly out of tune? PLEASE HELP!

These types of tuners only work when the string is already very close to the proper note. I have seen people break strings because they were winding them tighter and tighter trying to get the light to light-up.

Some tuners you lights to the left and right with a green in the center for when you are in tune. I am not sure which kind yours is. But I assume the light will do something different when you are on.

So you will need to get some sort of tuning fork, or some signal (say on a piano, or even on your computer) that gives you a low E sound. Then you can generally tune your guitar by ear, then just use the on-board tuner to fine tune it to be accurate.

Oh and one more thing… MAKE SOME NOISE!!!!
