Epiphone Les Paul Standard vs Korina 1985 Explorer?

Im getting an electric guitar and I can not decide to get … I am looking to play more as Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Mayer, then things like 30 Seconds to Mars for the next alternative. I know that if I want pure RHCP or Mayer, need to go with a beginning, but I want to get as close as I can with a Gibson and I can not decide between the two. Any opinions? It's two guitars GRETA I would choose the Explorer but this is just my personal taste in guitars.
